I tested them at home by placing a paper towel in them, filling sink with water, then submerging them for 30 minutes. Bone dry. Used them in Mexico and got some cool pics of fish underwater when snorkeling. Can be blurry and tricky to use but easy to use after a few tries. Easy enough to delete and crop pics and vids that dont meet expectations. Also worked great for keeping passport and money dry and on my person when traveling. It fits my phone (up to 8.9”) comfortably and the touch screen functionality works surprisingly well through the case — I could take photos and scroll without ever taking my phone out of the pouch.I love that the lanyard is included and feels sturdy enough to wear around my neck while swimming or exploring. The IPX8 rating gives me confidence that my phone stays dry even when splashed or briefly submerged.The only reasons I didn’t give it 5 stars are that the closure can be a little finicky at first, and sometimes the screen responsiveness is slightly less sensitive than when the phone is uncovered. Neither issue is a deal breaker, but they’re worth noting.Overall, solid value for a 2-pack waterproof case — perfect for travel and water adventures! We’ve done Disney in the rain before, and so we were armed with rain jackets, rain pants, shoe covers, etc. But the one thing I remembered from past trips was how difficult it was to use the phone – had to go find a dry area for the phone and get my hands dry before I could do anything. And anyone navigating Disneyland these days knows how much we have to be on the app for mobile orders, monitoring wait times, etc. etc. This phone pouch protected my phone from the rain perfectly, and I was able to use the buttons on the side and the touchscreen as well. The fingerprint reader even worked through the plastic a couple times, but mostly didn’t. I just disabled that feature and used my password unlock for most of the trip. The lanyard kept it in easy reach at all times, although I often just tucked the phone into one of the larger pockets of my rain coat. (Pro-tip: My son recommended putting the phone in upside-down, so when you pull it up to read while it’s on the lanyard, it’s right-side up. Genius! These seem very high quality, so we’ll be able to use them again for future rainy or waterpark adventures. The lanyard is very adjustable, ensuring a perfect fit. Now I did not go into water, like swimming or anything, so I cannot speak to how well they protect the phone if totally submersed. And I will also say that foldover “wallet” style phone cases won’t fit in these, as they are pretty narrow. Flat phone cases are fine. We had Google Pixel phones, 9a and 7, and they worked fine with flat cases or no case at all. I dropped mine without a case inside the pouch once or twice, and it helped protect the phone – no scratches or dings at all. I highly, highly recommend these phone pouches! We tested the pouches once received as they suggested by submerging them in water overnight with a piece of paper towel or tissue inside to check for leaks. All four cases were water tight. We used these to take UNDERWATER photos and videos while travelling! No leaks! We had so much fun and didn’t have to invest in a go pro. My only complaint is that the touch screen functions are not functional while under water. We took photos using the side buttons, but for videos, I would have to start the video above water, then submerge the phone while recording to capture the underwater videos.
