I started getting serious about specialty coffee in late 2005 and during a trip to Brazil. When I returned home I started building up my brewing and roasting equipment area at home. Over the years it’s evolved from commercial espresso brewing machines to single group budget retail user machines, which I’m currently testing and using for my imported espresso green bean inventory. From the beginning I started buying stainless steel pitchers and other accessories. But to this day I have at least five pitchers of various sizes on my espresso counter at any time. Two of them are the new 12-ounce Amachefs. Most important feature, after testing, of the Amachef pitcher…I filled an independent liquid volume-in-ounces container with 12-ounces of water. I then poured that volume of water into both of the Amachef pitchers that I’m reviewing. Both filled to the 12-ounce lineAt a near exact point on the inside-of-pitcher markings. Don’t assume that other pitchers are as accurate. I pulled two other stainless pitchers from my inventory and both were actually marked as 12-ounces, but the water volume test showed they only held 11-plus ounces. The markings were off.Typically, I don’t use the internal markings of these pitchers as part of my daily use regimen. After years of pouring milk into these ‘single beverage’ size pitchers, I can visually and accurately tell what volume I want for a macchiato, cappuccino or latte. But it’s good to know that the internal laser markings on these most recent Amachef pitchers were accurate at the full volume 12-ounce point. This pitcher fits all of that but is also 1/2 to 1/4 the price of most every other pitcher on Amazon currently. That makes it a must-have buy as long as you realize that it is a very small pitcher sized for single milk drinks and small personal espresso machines.Even though the pitcher can hold 12 ounces total, only about 8 ounces of that is usable for frothing to give you enough head space for foam. So, if your recipe calls for more than 8 ounces of frothed milk or you are frothing for more than one drink, you need to get a larger pitcher. If you are making a single cappuccino or latte then this size is perfect and also helps you not waste milk. As an added bonus, this pitcher’s size makes it a very handy catch cup for when you are doing blank shots to warm up/flush your machine or need to flush water out of your steam head. So, as long as you know that you need something to froth milk for single espresso drinks, then this is a great pitcher at an amazing value. Came as shown, nice shine to the finish, and after using a scale to get weight on ingredients I’ve found the measurement lines to be spot on. The pour spout helps me not to spill milk when pouring, and allows for design creation when I decide to use a frother in my milk before adding to coffee. This works great for old school steaming as well. I have a keurig and no steam wand so have had to get creative to get “steamed” milk for my esspresso blends. I use a pot of water with hot pad in the bottom (silicone) and place this pitcher in middle with cream at same level as water line, then place a pot lid over top and simmer or gently boil for 2-4 minutes. Works perfectly. For only $4 this has a sturdy design, great appearance, and is very functional. Highly recommend! Review: I was expecting a larger “Milk Frother Cup” than this one. They showed the size in centimeters and not inches so I could not picture the actual size. Also, the person holding this frother cup must have very small hands. The picture I took of my hand holding this cup showed that the cup looked much smaller in my hand.On the positive side, this is a good quality stainless steel cup. It looks good and should perform perfectly for a smaller amount of milk. With this cup, you will only be able to steam enough milk for one smaller serving. The mirror finish is nice, but certainly isn’t the easiest thing to keep free of water spots and fingerprints. It’ll look sleek if your machines are also mirror finished, otherwise I would probably go more for a brushed metal finish.Pouring performance was about expected from a rounded spout. I was able to get decent latte art with this pitcher, but I wouldn’t consider it a high performance and very detailed oriented pitcher. Also, due to its relatively small size, it’s possible to burn your knuckles while holding it by the handle as the handle is relatively shallow and the pitcher conducts heat very well.
