If your clothes are “my linen shirt was crumbled up in a ball when I packed it” wrinkled it won’t do the job as good as your standard normal sized iron. But if you just want to get the creases out after unpacking and smoothing out the fabric, it works a treat. The main reason for taking off a star is the fact that the handle doesn’t lock when extended, as other reviews have mentioned. It’s annoying to have it moving in and out a bit as you iron and would probably be a dealbreaker if I was doing serious ironing. But for just touching up one garment a day it’s tolerable. I use to carry a pint-sized Remington dual-voltage travel iron, always had adapters with me, and even then I often couldn’t use the iron for various reasons (one hotel wouldn’t even allow them, maybe someone had forgotten to switch voltage and started a fire 😬🙃). I could ask Housekeeping to send an iron up and maybe I’d get one, maybe in time. Some hotels would take care of our uniforms for us, oh joy, but not all. Then I worked in licensing sourcing product and I travelled internationally some more, and needed an iron even more. But I started turning to steamers, and I’d have loved this one, so compact, it heats fast, it has the dual-voltage (you’ll still need adapters though) and the iron plus steamer will take care of most anything. The steam function on this actually works better than my larger steamer which spits and leaks quite a bit actually. I found myself choosing this the last few times I’ve had to steam clothing, only turning to my larger one for drapes. A tip: Keep a few jugs of distilled water on hand for steaming. When you travel and don’t have ready access to distilled it’s okay to use the tap water but then when back home clean the steamer with a 50/50 mix of vinegar and distilled water to remove any minerals. This cute little steamer iron is sturdy but not too heavy, very easy to use, and gets the wrinkles out. Yeah there’s that handle issue, I too wish it locked, but I like this too much to take a star off for it. I have a Newbealer Steam Mop, so I trust the brand.2. The steamer iron is downright dainty. 5 inches long 3.5 inches tall x 1.5 inches wide. It will tuck into your luggage and take next to no space.3. Comes with a travel case, which holds the iron, the fill cup, and the directions. There’s about 6 ft of cord, so that takes up some space.4. Use purified water. Luckily most of us have a filtration pitcher. If not, buy distilled (but I can see this becoming an issue when traveling.)4. Heats up in less then 10 seconds. The on/off switch is lighted. Solid red at first, then flashing red when the heat temp is ready to dry iron. A fast press gives a blue light and steam. The whole cycle took less than half a minute to get steam.5. I tested mine on a wrinkled cotton dish towel. The Newbealer Travel Steam Iron flattened a rolled up hem with one pass. Smoothing out wrinkled cotton in one pass? Okay, I’ll take that.6. The handle lifts but doesn’t lock. I supposed your hand does that. OTOH, the handle didn’t collapse when I set the iron down, either. It’s been years since I owned a steam iron, but it was hard to break the habit of sitting the iron on its end. That doesn’t seem to be necessary. The steam seemed plentiful to me, given the size of the iron.7. The fill cup is necessary to get water into the small opening on the side. Iron doesn’t hold much, water so plan to refill often, or use dry heat and only steam when absolutely necessary.8. Price at time of review is $57. That seems high to me for a handheld steamer, but then again, I don’t travel much. If the voltage range matters to you, then I suspect the price is fair.9. I did steam a few wrinkles out of my shower curtain, to be able to state that the iron works well as a handheld steamer. What I Dislike (Or Didn’t Realize)1. I expected to find a converter or two for the plug, which is a standard US plug. I guess you have to supply your own, and know the iron won’t fry if you plug it into a 220 outlet. (I cant speak to that.)2. The handle is by no means ergonomic. But I didn’t feel my hand was at a terribly awkward angle. Then again, I only ironed a dish towel. But, if you need ergonomics, you’ll be ironing longer than this machine is designed for, so I doubt the handle will be much of a factor.10. The silicone pad is a thoughtful inclusion. I don’t own–or want–an ironing board, so I iron on my bed or my desk, or my kitchen counter. The pad is useful in all three situations. And like I noted above, the iron doesn’t sit on its end, so you’re putting the hot surface down every time.Overall, I’m thrilled with it, the Newbealer Travel Iron will handle the bit of ironing/steaming that I’ll need. My next task is to press on several embroidered patches that have the hot melt backing. If the iron falters, I’ll be back to note my issues. It heats quickly, produces steady steam for small jobs, and the ceramic soleplate glides smoothly without snagging, while the anti-spill design makes vertical steaming practical without leaks or spitting. The included accessories are genuinely useful for packing and setting the hot unit down safely. My main drawbacks are ergonomic: the pop-up handle does not lock and feels a bit squared off for longer sessions, and the small tank means you will refill more often on bigger items, but for carry-on sized convenience and reliable wrinkle removal, it does the job well. Easy to use, quick heat up, and gets rid of wrinkles. Very nice to have if you’re in a pinch while on the go and need some de-wrinkling done Reviewer: J Rating: 4.0 out of 5 stars Title: Review: I love that this iron can be used almost everywhere I travel to. It is going to be a key item on my business trips.Unfortunately, its pro is also its con.It is very easy to pack in your bag due to its shape, but it is also the reason why it is not so easy to iron your stuff.Because the shape doesn’t have a pointy end, it kind of pushes the cloth forward when you iron. It might just take a bit of getting used to, but it takes a bit more effort to get perfectly ironed clothes. But I think it is still a very good product due to its portability in both shape and voltage. It is also slightly heavier than I imagined, so please keep that in mind.
