Title: Insane score for an insulated winter hiking boot – if it fits the shape of your foot
Review: I really wanted these to work! After struggling to find a backcountry XC ski boot that wouldn’t give me blisters, I was introduced to the Alpina brand and their Alaska boot. As soon as I put it on my foot I knew I’d never experience blisters on skis again. My next thought was that I hope this company makes hiking boots! It is really difficult to find a decent insulated winter hiking boot that doesn’t rub weird, fit way too big or way too snug – I really thought the XTs were the answer for me. They check all the boxes. They are an extremely well crafted and well-thought-out boot. The fact they are a little over $100 compared to the hundreds other companies charge for, in my opinion, a inferior product is really something. They are also super lightweight.I typically wear Salomon hiking boots as they fit the shape of my feet. However, there’s so much padding in their insulated winter boots and (I am a woman) they don’t make them above an 11 and that’s the size I typically wear, which leaves me SOL. Their mens versions are way too wide, even with insoles and I wind up with blisters.Unfortunately, for me, the arch area in the XT was too narrow and dug into the sides of my feet. I tried different insoles but it’s just too narrow. I have similar issues with Hokas. Bottom line – this is a great boot that just doesn’t fit he shape of my foot. The inner shoe material is not stiff, nor will the crease rub against the tops of your toes when you bend your foot. The shell is such a nice thought for winter hiking boots – it will keep your laces away from gaiters (mine always get stuck to the velcro enclosure at the bottom) and from collecting snow that later freezes as you climb in elevation, making any lace alterations mid-hike ‘fun’. These would work great with my Tubbs Flex vrts or MSR Evo snowshoes.I wish the Alaska came as a hiking boot – the fit is very different from the XT and fits my foot like a glove. I dream about literally just replacing the toe ski attachment bar with a vibram sole and change nothing else. Alas, a girl can dream.

Title: Excellent product, I highly recommend getting a pair
Review: Extremely comfortable and very warm.I tried Colombia and other brands before I got these and these spit the best and field the best out of all the other brands plus their true decisive. The others run small. I like this product enough to know that i’m going to continue to buy from this company moving forward for any outdoor gear.

Title: First impression
Review: Why did you pick this product vs others?:This time Alpina boots was my choice for winter boots. I will give em a try cos I know Alpina for decades but never had a chance to try one. Boot quality:Overall quality is really high. Craftsmanship outstanding. This is first winter hiking boot I put on without any problem. There is no pressure inside to any point of my foot. Toe box is spacious and there is a place for thick winter socks. So you have a two parts of boot. First is Thinsulate inner boot with laces. You inserting your foot , setting your laces and then the second part is waterproof gaiter which is a solid part of the boot with waterproof zipper. This system is used by many manufacturers especially in high altitude mountaineering boots. Everything is made so solid and nice. Comfort:So for now I just made a short walk cos we have like 90’s degree in Chicago , but Alpina feels great. Very moderate cushioning. I don’t think break in will be needed.  Insoles are ventilated which means gonna help to keep moisture on accurate level. Value for money:So for the price $110 boots appear like $400 price range. I have other brands of winter boots but cheapest one was over $300 and they are not that comfy as Alpina. This is my first impression after closely look and try right out of the box. So far can’t say nothing about durability , using in snow or ice or low temperatures , but be sure gonna review em after using em on snow.In general Alpina seems to be solid and honest manufacturer, offering highest quality at reasonable price point.
