They were relatively easy to install if you have basic carpentry and electrical skills. We used the mechanical mounts, not willing to risk adhesive failures when the lamps heat up. The best advice is to layout the entire plan on paper or with software before starting. We also purchased additional low-voltage extensions and splitters and a short extension cord. Because this was a new build we installed a switched 120 VAC outlet above the cabinets, which made the final installation easier with a more finished appearance. The color, 5000°K, was just perfect for the new kitchen. BTW – we did not use the adjustable brightness. All my ceiling kitchen lights are behind me when standing at the counters so I used them very frequently so I can have light and see when doing almost anything in the kitchen. After a few months though they would suddenly stop working and the power block would get really hot. The cord length is great for smaller kitchens that have many cabinets together but that one odd small cabinet away from the rest, I had to get a pack and use one light with one cord and power block as the cords wouldn’t extend under my microwave. Installation was very easy and they stayed in place without a problem. They were nice and bright and light up the spaces perfectly. Mine for some reason did not dim, I tried the switch once and it never wanted to work again, could be I just got a faulty one but I needed a lot of light under my very dark cabinet areas so I didn’t really miss that feature. Durability wise; they didn’t stand the test of time and I had to replace them with a different type so I didn’t feel the cost was worth it. For small spaces you won’t use constantly and have a convenient outlet nearby, I would say these work great but if you need something that doesn’t bind you by a cord and will have high use for, I would skip. Plenty bright enough but I had thought these lights had a motion detector and they don’t. So that kind of messed up the location issue. I moved them from the laundry room to the garage. It was a bit hard to break the seal on the two sided tape, but decided to work on the surface between the tape and the cupboard so as to not damage the light strip. I replaced the two sided tape and mounted to a post in my garage. That post sits in the middle of my garage, and I have to back in, so I having the post with lights on it is a collision saver. The lights were put in series up the post at car level from the floor, and do a great job of identifying just were that post edge is.
