And this pillow got it right, it took the best from every different type of pillow and put it into one. It looks exactly like the pictures and performs as expected. Why it’s awesome: first is the obvious, it keeps your head from flopping forward and waking you up because The pillow itself attaches to the headrest of the airplane seat. And because the front of the pillow has a cinch string, which makes it possible to close the pillow completely around your neck and cradles your jaw/chin, it actually keeps your head from flapping forward if you make it tight. But the pillow and the fabric are firm but soft so it’s not uncomfortable when the pillow is tight. I think the height of the pillow is perfect regardless of how short or long a neck you have because the pillow is plush and can accommodate. The pillow cradles your head on all four sides it also keeps your head from tilting to the side too much. There is padding on the back of the pillow, but not too much, so it would be comfortable to use even if you didn’t end up attaching it to a headrest (I used it in bed lol). it comes with a great travel bag that compresses it a bit for easy traveling. I like attaching a carabiner to the bag strap so that I can easily attach it to the outside of my suitcase or backpack. I haven’t tried washing the exterior yet, supposedly it comes off, but one reviewer said that did not end well. TBD on that. The function of holding your head back works great with seats that have an extra head rest. Definitely worth it for longer international flights Reviewer: Georgeann Rating: 4.0 out of 5 stars Title: great neck support Review: This pillow in it’s case is so small and easy to carry by attaching to a backpack or luggage. It provides great neck support so your head doesn’t droop while sitting straight, but you can also turn your head to the side with great support and comfort. I have owed this product for 2 years and use it for travel almost every other month. It is comfortable, packs up well, and is helpful to travel with due to the way it attaches to the outside or fits within a carry-on bag. I recently had a problem with the zipper on the storage bag. I contacted the company and they immediately sent me a replacement. I was surprised at the friendliness, low-hassle, and promptness of their customer service. I would recommend purchasing from them based on that experience. BUT…It does NOT work well with headphones, especially over the ear ones like AirPod Max or Sony Noise canceling. It’s not even that comfy with in ear AirPods as I tried both my AirPod Max and AirPods Pro and could not use either comfortably with the pillow. The pillow does what it claims. It keeping your head in an upright position and stable, but to the extent that its almost to zealous in doing so. Their claim that it’s cooler than other pillows because of the front opening is rubbish. It still cover the veins on your neck that will always make you hot when something wraps that tightly around it.If you want to wear earphones while using then a big NO. But if you are just looking for a travel pillow that you won’t use headphones with, and aren’t worried about getting overly warm. Then it’s a good quality pillow. One other note (found only printed inside the storage bag that I saw) is that you should NOT keep it in its travel back for more than a month as it will permanently disfigure the pillow. So when you get home you need to take it out of the travel case and then re-pack it for the next trip to keep it in tip top shape. My suggestion to Cabeau is that they add in divots or cutouts for headphone wearers. That would at leas make it more practical for those of us who ware our headphones for the entire flight to protect our ears. But when I brought it on my flights (2x 13 hours) and tied it to the backrest, the height seemed perfect for me to press my cheek into. I’ve never slept so comfortably in economy before. Do not think – get it. My credentials are that I bought 5 neck pillows and tried them on separate transatlantic/ Pacific flights. Yes those that are 14-16hrs and if you don’t sleep you can write off your first 2-3 daysIgnore any negative cons or whatever you see – those are nit picks. Here’s a couple I saw:- it will interfere with you giant headphones – yes, solution – get small ones or use earplugs and SLEEP, that’s what it’s for- it gets warm – not really, unless you always run hot, it is very well ventilated plus most flights are cooler (unless you’re flying economy in SE Asia for less than the cost of this pillow)What it does super right and MAKES IT WORK:- the “back” is narrower which means your head isn’t pushed forward like on literally every other pillow. This seems minor but it is HUGE. This is why they tell you to wear those useless donut pillows backwards- the headrest straps – this is the real winner and where every other pillow FAILS. Your NEED the neck support – trust me, I tried regular pillows, and those that you put your head into leaning forward – any slightest side to side movement of the plane and you’re like a pendulum. With this – you’re like Neo – one with the plane.- it actually keeps your head in place. Yes it comes with the aforementioned tradeoff of being up near your ears but the shape is “graduated” taper that works really well and feels secure without suffocating you (looking at you, SNUGL)I have slept for the first time properly on a non-business flight. Thank you cabeau! The one nit pick I DO have, and I wouldn’t take a star of, but this is more for next version of this pillow – the neck strap feels like it’s going to garotte you. It also doesn’t sinch quite as tight as it could due to the design of the connection mechanism. It also “looks” flimsy at the connection points where the strings tie into the pillow. I’ll see how it holds up but honestly even if it was a one time use pillow I would still buy it every time. Lastly, to disconnect the tie points there is a tiny button that if you’re waking up in the middle of the night, or god forbid in an emergency, you might not as easily find. This is where a velcro might be a bit better.Compared to cost of flight and your comfort this is basically free. Don’t think, get it, trust.
