1. Arrival in Busan and Hidden Gems in Jung-gu

The trip began with a smooth KTX train ride from Seoul to Busan. For this solo adventure, I chose to stay in an Airbnb apartment style accommodation rather than a traditional hotel. This not only helped manage the accommodation cost but also provided a cozy, home-like atmosphere to relax in after long days of walking.

My first stop was Caffeine Containing, a warm and welcoming cafe in Jung-gu where I recharged with an oat milk latte and their signature banana French toast. Just a short walk away is Bosu Book Street, a historic alleyway filled with independent bookstores that have survived since the war. It’s a paradise for book lovers and offers a nostalgic glimpse into Busan’s past.

2. Haeundae Vibes and Ocean Views

No trip to Busan is complete without visiting the ocean. I headed to Haeundae Beach, where the Sand Festival was in full swing, turning the shoreline into an open-air art museum. For a coffee break with a view, Tide Coffee Roasters offered a perfect 10/10 vanilla bean latte overlooking the sea.

Later, I took a scenic walk around Dongbaekseom Island to the lighthouse and the mermaid statue. The day ended at Edge 993, a cafe with stunning views of the Sky Capsule train and the ocean, followed by a mesmerizing sunset and night walk at Gwangalli Beach, where the bridge lights up the night sky.

3. Rainy Day at Gamcheon Culture Village & Nampo-dong

Day 2 brought heavy rain, but that didn’t stop the exploration. Gamcheon Culture Village took on a moody, artistic vibe in the mist. I took shelter in Asteroid B612, a cafe offering the cutest cheesecake I’ve ever seen, shaped like a block of cheese.

Lunch was a seafood feast at Jagalchi Market, where I enjoyed fresh clams and kimbap. The afternoon was spent shopping in Nampo-dong, hitting spots like LALAFOLIE for cosmetics and strolling through BIFF Street. Transportation in Busan is incredibly convenient, making it easy to hop between these districts even in bad weather.

4. Final Foodie Stops: Chinatown and Gukje Market

On the final morning before my flight, I explored Busan Chinatown near the station. Breakfast was a delicious shrimp cheese toast from Egg Zone, washed down with a brown sugar bubble tea from King Presso.

Before heading to the airport, I made a quick stop at Gukje Market to try the famous fish cakes (Eomuk) and cabbage pancakes. It was the perfect savory end to a wonderful solo trip.
