He did however drop his and crack the screen, so I recommend a good case and a decent screen protector. Also, don’t trust a 5 year old with this ipad while getting out of the car. Easy to use right out of the box. With a glass screen protector the screen doesn’t get scratched. Non Apple specific products are still compatible and connect with ease. Bright colors make it easy to see. Even though I give it 5 stars I have a couple issues with it. Doesn’t charge with a lightning cable but uses the other kind. When you plug it in to charge even if it’s off it turns on. Holding down the top button doesn’t shut off the unit like my old one. Minor inconveniences however. Would still highly recommend.
