Title: High quality
Review: I bought this for my son’s room. It definitely makes the room COLD! Pretty easy to install. My son’s room size is 12×12. I don’t feel it’s great for being portable since it does need to be installed through a window.

Title: Very good little unit
Review: Bought two of these units after our top floor air conditioner went out as a supplement until we can have the main unit repaired. Worked marvelously for both upstairs bedrooms where we sleep so it worked perfectly as advertised. Very easy to move around and set up as the wheels work nicely. Only reason for 4 and not 5 stars was that the sliding panel that goes in the window was just short for both of our windows but we found a workaround. A few reviews complain that the unit is loud and I believe that is because they simply turned the unit on as soon as they received it and did not follow the instruction to leave it vertical for a few hours to allow the lubricating oil to return to the compressor. The overall noise level I could compare it to would be a kind of quiet hotel window air conditioner which was to be expected. Overall very happy with this unit

Title: Good looking and efficient
Review: Good looking unit delivers fresh dry cool air that relaxes and uplifts. I have asthma and hay fever and this black and decker ac is better than the building hvac (it’s replacing) so im impressed enough to consider another. It is very quiet and makes only the slightest noise like a new ac. It rolls very easy from room to room and window reattaching is easier than I thought due to the easily expendable windows panel that holds the vent.Super easy set up is made possible by parts that fit and great design. I like this one for being slim and boxy. I might get another for a different room. Very pleased

Title: Major FLAW, But… Great Unit..
Review: The unit itself works great for my small apt. ( 800 sq. ft. studio … I mean it’s COLD in here even with this heat wave of 100 degrees YAAAA!!! ) ..>> BUT.. >> The venting hose to attach to the unit itself and out the window is majorly flawed in that the ends of it DO NOT Securely screw into the hard plastic receptacles …So I had to duck tape them on..UGH…they SHOULD Have hard plastic screw-ins Attached TO THE HOSE itself as to be able to easily & securely attach them!!! I think it’s Dangerous if the hose were to fall off in the middle of the night ALL that exhaust would come into the room… Not OK..They NEED to FIX THIS!! Also it’d be nice if they offered a larger window attachment for a sliding glass door..80-90 inches as sometimes (like in my situation too ) people only have that option. I would have given 5 STARS if it weren’t for the hose attachment flaw.

Title: Avoid like the plague!
Review: I wish i could give a 0 star review. I’m so unhappy right now. Avoid, avoid, avoid.So much false advertising here. I purchased this unit because it came with a window kit that is supposed to fit up to 59 inch wide windows or sliding doors. Yet, the kit maxes out at 38 inches. (My window is 42 inches wide. I cannot forsee how this would even work in a door.) When I contacted Amazon, they wanted to give me a refund – i just wanted the advertised kit. (I live in a very rural place and it’s very difficult to get this unit reboxed to ship back.) They recommended I contact Black & Decker from the number on the advertised item – that number rolls to the B&D small kitchen appliances group out of Ohio – not the right support unit. Supposedly, B&D has been asking Amazon to update this number for a while. Who knows what the real deal is here.As for the unit itself, I couldn’t tell you how well it performs as I am having to purchase a universal window kit separately and am awaiting its arrival. If you are purchasing this AC unit with the idea the window kit will work for you, let me just go ahead and advise that if the window is greater than 38inches to avoid this unit.

Title: Perfect for a small space
Review: I bought this to use only on the hot humid nights in my coastal home. We installed this in less than five minutes and had it up and running. I like how it is small enough that it can fit in a small space in a small bedroom. It cools the room quickly and keeps it cool. I also appreciate the timer, so we can cool the bedroom and then shut it off automatically. Would definitely buy again!

Title: Good portable A/C (Edit: new problem!)
Review: Edit: Well, after writing the review below, I ran into a problem. The A/C just suddenly turns off while it’s running in cool mode. (It’s not like when it cycles between the compressor and the fan; it just stops running entirely, even though the desired temp is still lit up on the display.) If I hit the on/off button, it makes the two beeps sound that indicates “off” (even though it’s not running). I can turn it right back on, and it seems to work, but I can’t keep waking up every 20 min to turn it on! Have done all the required trouble-shooting (check the electricity, filters, drain pan, exhaust hose is not kinked, etc) – all fine, and it does it even when it’s not particularly hot out. Also does it within 15 minutes of turning it on. I contacted Black & Decker and they are happy to send a replacement — but that means I have to uninstall this one, pack it up and ship it, and wait up to “7 to 10 days” for a replacement, and then re-install that one. Needless to say, not ideal when it’s in the 90s. I asked for a refund instead and they wouldn’t give it to me. Really disappointed – and dreading the next few weeks without an a/c! Please fix this, Black & Decker!I’m happy with this purchase. I’ve never had a portable A/C, but had to buy this because my windows in the place I live now won’t open wide enough for a window unit. The A/C was easy to set up and install. I’m pleased that it’s a compact size. It cools my room efficiently and quickly. The noise level is absolutely fine and what I would expect – certainly not louder than a window A/C. I really like the fact that when it switches from cooling to fan mode as the room cools, there’s not a big “clunk” or other noise (which I have had happen with other A/Cs). Everything feels solid and well-made. Love the fact that I can control it with the remote.

Review: Love this AC unit (8500 BTU). It’s surprisingly efficient. But please take note the window kit IS FOR A SLIDING WINDOW frame, NOT for rolling windows. Otherwise I would’ve given it a 5 stars rating.
